With a few notable exceptions, I really can’t stand the recent wave of nihilism in superhero movies (and probably other media) since Batman Begins. Nolan did it well through his first two films but it just saps the fun from pretty much everything else. Prime example: I can’t think of a trailer that makes me want to avoid its film more strongly than the aggressively anti-fun Iron Man 3 trailer.
