It’s here! Many of you contributed artwork to the All Yesterdays competition, and the results were so good, Memo Kosemen decided to make a PDF book. It’s free to download on the Irregular Books website.

In response to my Ms. Male Character video someone made this clever image illustrating what “female as default” might look like. Because we live in a strongly male-identified society the idea of Pac-Woman as the “unmarked” default and Mr. Pac-Woman as the deviation “marked” with masculinizing gender signifiers feels strange and downright absurd. While Pac-man and the deviation Ms. Pac-Man seems completely normal in our current cultural context.

RIGHT???????
I mean it’s largely because I love Jesse and keep watching in the vain hope that he will eventually be happy, and also because Hank and Marie are such incredibly nuanced characters and everyone but especially they are so perfectly acted.

Ask meme thingy

Rule 1: Always post the rules

Rule 2: Answer questions that are given to you and write 11 new ones

Rule 3: Tag 11 people

Rule 4: Let them know you tagged them

What’s your least favorite episode of (one of) your favorite show(s)?

The website for one of my banks lets you create your own security questions and one of mine is, “What is the worst episode of television ever?” because I know the answer will always and forever be “The Beach.” In the interest of not raising my blood pressure I will not go into the many reasons it is the sole blemish on what is otherwise the most perfect show ever made (and I know I’ve already discussed it with most of you who care anyway).

Describe the Halloween costume you’re proudest of.

Ah shoot I don’t really have any good Halloween costumes. This last year I was Hobbes to go with my friend’s Calvin, but it was a pretty cheap and last-minute costume so I’m not exactly proud of it as a costume. But now that I am getting into making clothes maybe I will make some good ones for future Halloweens!

What song did you last choose to listen to?

According to MusicBee it was “Ghosts” by TEA, and if you haven’t heard them you should go immediately to their bandcamp page and listen to their album because it is right behind An Awesome Wave as my favorite that I’ve discovered this year.

What’s a movie that you liked but no one else did?

I can’t think of anything I like that no one else liked, but I do love all of Roland Emmerich’s movies, most recently White House Down, and I at least don’t know anyone else who has the same affection for them.

Ghosts?

Is a great song that I’ve already discussed a couple questions ago.

Is there a childhood dream or goal that you are not as concerned with as you used to be?

When I was really young I always said I wanted to be a paleontologist but I think I lost interest when I realized they study dinosaur bones instead of real dinosaurs.

How long have you been living where you’re living?

Except for my five years of college, I have been living in this house since I was five or so, which would be about nineteen years.

Ghosts???
